Boys swimming makes history at state

BY MAYA LAWNICKI — The boys swim team took home a second place finish at the state meet in Madison after a productive season. The second place finish at the state meet was their best finish since 1949. “The guys were incredibly committed, extremely dedicated to the task at hand, and really motivated to accomplish their goals by the end of the season,” said Tom Miazga, head coach. Boys swimming dives into success

Boys swimming has continued its season of winnings, thus far being undefeated in dual meets and having high rankings at invites. At the Metro Meet, hosted by Homestead on December 29, the boys placed second against both Division I and Division II schools. The runner-up finish was to Arrowhead, a much larger team and school. BY ERIN SZABLEWSKI — Rachel Munson, senior, and Kristin Malone, 2014 alumnus, recently competed in the 2014 Speedo Junior National Championships. The competition was held in Irvine, California on July 30 through August 3 and is the biggest and most competitive meet for swimmers 18 and under across the nation. Munson qualified in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke. She took 6th in the 100 with a time of 1:10.19, and 21st in the 200 with a time of 2:36.89.
