Drama nominated for 19 Tommy Awards

American Idiot, Shorewood Drama’s winter production, was examined by three judges for the Tommy Awards at the Overture Center in Madison. American Idiot earned an almost perfect scores and 19 nominations. The winners will be announced in May. The ceremony will be at the Overture Center on Sunday, June 12 at 6 P.M. Shorewood High School’s production of Green Day’s American Idiot runs February 4, 5 and 6 in the Gensler Auditorium. This two-time Tony Award-winning musical is based on Green Day’s Grammy Award-winning rock album, American Idiot. The show is set in a post 9/11 world, and centers around three dissatisfied men trying to find their place in the world. Thespians to hit up Broadway

BY MADELINE WILSON — This year a group of Shorewood students will go on a “Five Day New York City Theatre Tour” from April 17 to April 21. A majority of the students attending this trip are taking the class Advanced Acting, but some are involved only in Shorewood drama department productions. This visit to New York will give students opportunities both enjoyable and educational. The trip will start off with a tour that goes through the history of Broadway and Time Square in the past century.
